Q: Why Baker’s Lodge?
A: Staying at Baker’s Lodge is more than just having a bed for the night. We offer a backpackers accommodation experience. You will get personalized service from the moment you step through the door. We are passionate about you getting the most out of your stay in the Motueka area, so we will ask what you are doing, offer suggestions and we offer a booking service to all your Abel Tasman activities on site.
Q: How far are you from Abel Tasman National Park and how do you get there?
A: Just 20 minutes’ drive. There is a regular bus service leaving the hostel every morning and returning each night throughout the year.
Q: Do I need a pass to walk in the Abel Tasman?
A: No, but you do need a hut or camping pass if you are staying overnight between 1 October and 30 April.
Q: What will the weather be like today?
A: It will be fine and sunny unless it’s raining.
Q: Do you supply towels and linen?
A: Towels are complimentary with en suite rooms. Towels are available for hire by all other guests. Fresh linen is provided on all beds in all rooms types.
Q: When is the office open?
A: During Summer: Between 7.30am - 11.30am & 2.30pm - 8.30pm (Check in: 2.30pm - 8.30pm)
During Winter: Between 7.30am - 10.30am & 4.30pm - 8.30pm (Check in: 4.30pm - 8.30pm)
Q: When is check-in and check-out?
A: Regular check in is between 2p.m. - 8 p.m. However, if you have booked a private room you can arrive at any time providing you phone beforehand for the 24hr access code to the front door. Check-out time is 10 a.m.
Q: Do you provide breakfast?
A: No, but we have a well equipped kitchen, plus complimentary BBQs, tea, coffee, herbs and spices.
Q: Do you have off-site car parking or secure car parking?
A: You can leave your car on the premises while you go on a trip, but you must be returning for at least a further night’s stay at Baker’s Lodge. There is a there-and-back door to door bus service for trampers walking the Heaphy Track.
Q: Do you offer pack/bag storage?
A: You can leave your luggage with us while you go on a trip, but you must be returning for at least a further night’s stay at Baker’s Lodge.
